What Is a Catholic?

Since the Pope is head of the Catholic Church, we need to determine what is s Catholic?  What may be more important is who is not a Catholic, and thus cannot become Pope?  It is not sufficient to say I am a Catholic.  We must be Catholic.  And so there are certain marks by which a Catholic can be identified.
1. Catholics are Baptized
2. Catholics profess the Divine and Catholic whole and entire and without questioning these doctrines.
3. Catholics are subject to the Bishop of Rome, commonly called the Pope.

The Papacy Became Vacant October 9, 1958 with the death of Pope Pius XII

To prove this we need to prove that Angelo Roncalli was not papabile, that is capable of being elected Pope.  Above we have seen that heretics cease to be Catholics.  Saitn Robert Bellarmine queries: How can a man be head of the Church he has ceased to be a member of?  Pope Paul IV answered that it is impossible for an apostate, heretic or schismatic to be elected to the Papacy. All that remains is to prove that Angelo Roncalli was a heretic prior to his apparent election as Pope John XXIII-II.
